We meet Tom, a middle-aged solitary man who runs a tiny bookstore he inherited from his parents, in a busy city. Tom leads a typical and uninteresting life up until the fateful day that Sarah, a young woman, comes into the bookstore.
The cozy bookstore with its aisles of vintage books and the cozy smell of paper and ink appeals to Sarah, an aspiring writer. Intrigued by her enthusiasm for books, Tom starts a discussion with her while she peruses the shelves.
Tom has no idea that Sarah is actually his biological daughter—the child he regretfully gave up for adoption more than 20 years ago at a trying time in his life. Tom’s decision to let go of the baby has plagued him ever since, and he has no idea what happened to it.
